The Des Moines Metro Opera experience is unlike anything else. As your schedule permits, enjoy our delicious pre-show gourmet dining in the lobby, take a stroll around the beautiful campus, attend our free opera previews 45 minutes before the curtain and enjoy conversations and drinks with our artists after the show!
WHEN DO I NEED TO ARRIVE?
If you aren't planning to dine with us before the show, plan to arrive 40 minutes before the start of the opera. It will give you that little extra time to park, time to enjoy reading some of the features in our handsome season program book - and, as performances begin promptly, it will help you avoid missing the start of the opera in case any unforeseen circumstances delay you. Patrons arriving after the performance will be seated at the discretion of the house manager. Ushers will do their best to seat latecomers at an appropriate point in the opera. We do this to ensure that our audiences can enjoy the performances with a minimum of distraction during the opera.
Evening Performances start at 7:30pm
Matinees start at 2:00pm
DO YOU HAVE ACCESS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS PATRONS?
A limited number of handicapped parking spaces are available in the parking lots immediately around the theatre, plus several spots on the street. If you or one of your party needs special seating, please let the Box Office know when you order your tickets to make appropriate arrangements.
BOX OFFICE POLICIES I bought my tickets and now I can’t find them - can I still get in?
Don’t worry. Your records are on file and tickets are guaranteed. Call the box office at (515) 961-6221 or (515) 961-1601 on the evening of a show and replacement tickets will be waiting for you when you get to the theatre.
My schedule changed - can I exchange my tickets?
There are no refunds on tickets and all sales are final. However, subscription tickets can be exchanged for another performance of the same opera for free. Single tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded. Unused tickets can be considered a tax deduction by contacting the box office prior to curtain time of the performance date of the tickets being returned.
Something’s come up and I simply can’t use my tickets!
Don’t let your tickets go to waste! Unused tickets may be returned to Des Moines Metro Opera as a tax-deductible donation. Like all performing arts organizations, we depend on the financial support contributed by our friends for much of our income. Should you be unable to attend a performance for which you are holding tickets, we recommend returning them for a receipt acknowledging your donation of their paid value. Doing this as soon as possible will increase our chances of reselling them. Please mail or deliver unused tickets to our office. If this is not possible, please notify us by phone of your intention to donate the tickets at least 24 hours before the performance. A donation receipt will be mailed to you in mid-August.
There are two ways to exchange tickets: 1) In person at the box office. 2) Mail the original tickets along with the exchange request, a daytime phone number, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the box office.
