  • OPERA Iowa Touring Troupe

    February 9 - April 24, 2015
    For 29 years OPERA Iowa has created magic -- in rural schools, city classrooms, "cafetoriums," community centers, concert halls and gymnasiums -- offering nearly 750,000 young people and adults a quality arts experience today while building new enthusiastic audiences for opera tomorrow. One of the most innovative programs of its kind in the country, this successful 13-week regional arts education tour features comprehensive study guides and curriculum-based education workshops as well as performances designed especially for young people. The eight-member OPERA Iowa Troupe are young professionals whose sole goal is to captivate their audiences. Don't wait any longer to book your school residency or community evening concert!

  • THE BALTIMORE WALTZ and
    THREE DECEMBERS

    Friday - Sunday, December 5 - 7, 2014
    Des Moines Metro Opera will produce Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers and StageWest Theatre Company will produce The Baltimore Waltz by Paula Vogel. Each show will be half of the same evening and will be offered on December 5, 6 at 7:30pm and December 7 at 2:00pm at the Temple for the Performing Arts in Downtown Des Moines.

    The works chosen by both companies will focus on families coming to terms with the effects of the AIDS crisis. A portion of the performance proceeds will be donated to The Project of Primary Health Care, which offers a full continuum of HIV services from testing to treatment for individuals seeking compassionate and professional HIV/AIDS services.

  • Wine & Food Showcase

    Friday, February 20, 2015
    Started in 1985, this annual food and beverage event is the oldest in the area and has become a yearly favorite for foodies and oenophiles alike. Featuring more than 40 of the finest restaurants, caterers, wineries and breweries, the Wine & Food Showcase has become the premier event of its kind in Des Moines and has become Des Moines Metro Opera’s signature fundraiser. Patrons will partake in a silent auction filled with packages that can only be found at Wine & Food Showcase. Proceeds supports Des Moines Metro Opera’s nationally recognized productions and award-winning education and outreach programs, which annually reach over 40,000 individuals.
