Indianola, IA — Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) General and Artistic Director Michael Egel announced today that an additional performance of Lee Hoiby’s Bon Appétit!, has been added on Friday, July 19 at 6:00pm. “Even though we’re over two months from opening night, the first two performances of Bon Appétit! have already sold out, making this our most popular 2nd Stages Series production to date. This unique partnership with the Iowa Culinary Institute, combined with the unmistakable stage presence of mezzo-soprano Joyce Castle, has made this particular production a not-to-be-missed culinary and theatrical event,” said Egel.
Presented in partnership with the acclaimed Iowa Culinary Institute at the Des Moines Area Community College, this unique theatrical and culinary experience will transport the audience onto the set of Julia Child’s famous television show, The French Chef. Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Joyce Castle will portray the master chef herself as she prepares Le Gateau au Chocolate l’Eminence Brune (a chocolate cake). In addition to the performance, guests will enjoy a Julia Child-inspired gourmet dinner prepared by the world-class chefs at the Iowa Culinary Institute.
All-inclusive tickets (dinner, drinks and performance included) are $150 per person and may be ordered online at desmoinesmetroopera.org or by calling the DMMO Box Office at 515-961-6221.
